Description | The purpose of the Rowan Museum, Inc. is to collect, preserve, research, exhibit, and educate the public about the history of Rowan County and Piedmont, North Carolina through the use of its properties, programs, and collections. Our general history collection is located on Main St. in the 1854 Old County Courthouse, where we give tours and also rent out the second floor Messinger Room for events. We also have two house museums: The 1766 Old Stone House in Granite Quarry, and the 1819 Utzman Chambers House in Salisbury. Thousands of school children visit our 3 sites each year, and we will schedule group tours at any time. |
